Individual Note

Educated at St Paul's School, London; at one time in the Merchant Service; in South African War was 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Welch Regiment, afterwards was given a Commission in Regular Army, in Loyal North Lancashire Regiment 1900; Lieutenant 1901; transferred to Indian Staff Corps, to 13th Rajputs, later to 3rd Sikhs; served in operations on N.W. Frontier, then detailed to Burma Military Police for four years. In the Great War assisted in raising the Public Schools Battalion, of which he was senior Major and Adjutant and evetually commanded. Invalided out of the Army 1916, with Honorary rank of Lieut-Colonel.South Africa: Queen's Medal and Clasp. Great War: G.S. Medal, mentioned in dispatches. Farmed in Canada for three years, then poultry farming in Trinidad, B.W.I.
