Gertrud was a citizen of the Swiss Canton Bern (BE). Her great grandfather Daniel Graber emigrated in 1854 from Sigriswil, BE, CH to Miswalde in East Prussia. There he setup a successful dairy and cheese factory business, eventually comprising 6 dairies.
In 1945 all was lost as part of Germany's collapse and East Prussia being divided by the Russia and the Poland. Neither tolerated any non-nationals to remain.
