Basha Matilda Ballangee Caldwell
The funeral of Mrs. Basha Matilda Caldwell, who died at the home of her son, Arden Caldwell, in Salisbury, Mo., December 3, 1944, was held at the Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Tuesday, Decemeber 5, with the Rev. Clark Vaught in charge. Mrs. Caldwell was born in Cole County, near Jefferson City, April 13, 1861 and lived 83 years, 7 months, and 20 days. Her parents were James and Martha Ballengee. At the age of 18 she moved to Aurora Springs, accompanied by her widowed mother. In March 1893, she was married to James Caldwell. Mrs. Caldwell is survived by three children, Edith McClung, San Pedro, California; Esther Heffern, Overland Park, Kas. and Arden Caldwell of Salisbury, Mo. She reared her four step-children, Lula Dohner, Florence, Kas., Laura Apperson Eldon, Charles Caldwell, Eldon, and Thomas Caldwell, St. Louis.
