residence:Londonderry, Ireland(source: McQuigg, Henry - Toledo, History Of, The (title may not be exact)
This article was taken from The History of Toledo (title may not be exact) a small pamphlet which is in the Centralia Library, in Centralia, Lewis County, Washington.
It was written by Henry McQuigg, husband of Clarice Spencer. Henry and Clarice lived a short distance from Charlie and Nate McQuigg. The above list of Minor McQuigg's children is incorrect. It lists a Henry twice. The other son was Frank, husband of Leona McQuigg. Mabel McQuigg married an Unzelman.
Henry McQuigg, father of Miner H. McQuigg, was also Henry McQuigg. Miner's mother may be a Miner. Family lore says the mother died, Henry remarried, they didn't get along, so Henry took his young son miner and daughter Rose
and left.
Henry was a School Board director and a Mason. After Henry died, Clarice took a consort, Dwayne Skinner, which relationship she still maintains.
Frank McQuigg and his wife Leona and oldest son, formed a family band and played all around Lewis County. Later, his oldest son, together with his wife and son also formed a band and played in Lewis and other counties.
Franks youngest son formed a band with his schoolmates and is successful in all his musical endeavors to this day. Other members of the family are also accomplished musicians.
There were ancestors buried in a plot on the old McQuigg homestead where Minor and Adelaide McQuigg lived. They were later moved to the Salkum Cemetery. Patrick Fergueson Balfour and his wife Hannah Weatherby/bee and the McQuigg brothers are all buried there, together with related families.
At that time, Walter Balfour, a blind man, and a brother to Adelaide Balfour McQuigg, chopped wood for the family.
These ancestors can be found in the census reports of 1910 and 1930 for Lewis County, Washington.
The parents of Patrick Fergueson Balfour, were John Magauley Balfour of Londonderry, Ireland and Mary Ann Day. She is listed on the LDS site as being from Lisbon, Portugal. This was probably an assumption. There are many
US cities named Lisbon.
