An old picture from Wasatch Academy, dated 1905, shows Florence Monsen with the Women's Basketball Team of Wasatch Academy. I wrote to Wasatch hoping for the history of women's basketball at the Academy. Unfortunately, the first yearbook that mentions women's basketball is in 1927. The last mention of girls basketball is in the 1952 yearbook. That year the girls team acquired the title of Girls' Conference Champions. After 1952, girls basketball seems to have disappeared from the Wasatch scene. It was a long run of 25 years. This information was provided by Donna Glidewell, Alumni Direactor, Wasatch Academy on 23 Sep 2011.
Florence never told her children about her time with the basketball team; even though her youngest son, Don, played basketball in high school and college.
