Deceased Name: Hugh S. McMullen

DECATUR - Hugh S. McMullen, 86, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital. Hugh was born February 28, 1921 on a farm near Tarkio, Missouri, the son of Bard and Christina Lynn McMullen. He was the youngest of seven children. He attended Royal School, a rural school near the farm home. He graduated from Tarkio High School in 1938 and Tarkio College in 1942. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Corps during World War II. He married Jeane Moberly of Hammond, Illinois September 7, 1946. He was a chemist with the DuPont County., Mallinckrodt Chemical County. and Lincoln Laboratories. He was a chemist for the A.E. Staley Manufacturing County. for thirty-seven years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Decatur, where he sang in the choir for many years, and had been a Deacon of the church. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and camping. His hobbies included gardening, genealogy, and photography.
Surviving are his wife Jeane of Decatur, Illinois; daughters Rebecca Rimsky and husband Kevin of Orlando, Florida; Linda McMullen, husband Bob Koschka of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lori White and husband Dave of Sugar Land, Texas; Carol Reece, and husband Jim of Dekalb, Illinois, and grandchildren Melissa Reece and Daniel Koschka.
He is also survived by a sister, Rebecca Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers; Dr. Donald McMullen, Dr. Thomas McMullen, John McMullen, Dr. James McMullen, and Robert McMullen.
A memorial service will be held at Dawson and Wikoff Colonial Chapel North on Monday, December 10 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM.
