Il était originaire de Nikaia, une ville qui appartenait au « KOINON des BILLIONs ». Leur magnifique capitale était BYLLIS, située sur une colline de 531 mètres de haut au-dessus de la rivière Vjosa dans l'Albanie actuelle, entre Apolonia et Butrint, à peine 18 km de l'Adriatique.
