Mrs. Andersen worked for Mathias Erickson in Mankato, Minnesotabefore she was married. She met Mads in Mankato and they were marriedin Omaha, Nebraska. Mads was always on the move so they lived inOregon, Iowa, Washington, Nebrasks, Minnesota, and Colorado. Then in1914 he decided he wanted to go back to Denmark to make his home.They stayed about four months. They landed in Hamberg, Germany, tookin the Baltic Exposition in Sweden and stopped for a visit in Norwayon the way back. The Andersen family came to Colorado in 1907 for thehealth of Mrs. Andersen, she had asthma. (She was still alive at age90.) They settled on a farm two miles east of Berthoud, Colorado.Whenever she had a severe attack of Asthma, Dr Clymer would recommendthe mountains fo Mads would hitch up the buggy and they would rush forthe mountains.
