Ilene and her family were reported twice in the 1920 census, once in their old location, in a residence in Frederick, Oklahoma, and once on a farm in Montana in the household of her grandparents. I cannot account for their presence in Oklahoma, then back in Montana 28 days later.

So Ilene's parents James and Amanda with their children were enumerated in the census on the 2nd of January in Montana, then on 30 January they were enumerated again in Oklahoma. where they had all been living before. Jim and Amanda are in their own household in Tillman, Oklahoma, with all their children, whereas in the Montana census they and all the children are in her parents' household.

Their last child Carmen had been born in Montana in 1917, so they had been living there since about 1916. The next child, reported in the 1930 census, was also born in Montana, so they must have been on a trip to Oklahoma for a short time. However, it was long enough that they were renting the house in which they were enumerated in Tillman.

They had already been living in Montana since about 1916, because Ilene's little sister Carmen was born there in May or June 1916. I don't know why they were back in Oklahoma, nless they were just home for a holiday visit. I have found several other cases of the same family or individual being enumerated more than once in the same census. But the farthest away I have found it happening, I think, was a neighboring county.

Birth states of the children in 1930 tells us additionally that they moved form Montana to Minnesota between 1921. The last child Bernard was born in Minnesota about 1926. This makes since, because Amanda's mother died in Waseca County, Minnesota, in 1927.
