Before 22 April 1795 he was a member of the Commite de Salut Public (a revolutionary committee) of the department of Herault in France and then a municipal officer in the city of Montpellier then "notable".As of 9 November 1799 he was head pharmacist of the hospital in Montpellier in charge of the inspection and oversight of pharmacies of the 9th military division.Despite this he had to hide in the Cevennes region during the revolutionary "Terror"He became a pharmacist in Lyon at the time of the French Empire.
