Sweyn Godwinson From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Jump to: navigation, search Sweyn Godwinson was, in all probability, the older brother of Harold II of England and the first son of Godwin, despite his claims that his father was in fact King Cnut. He was something of a loose cannon and he was eventually exiled, following his murder of his cousin Beorn. He then travelled to Jerusalem, and it was on return from there, according to William of Malmesbury, that he was ambushed by Saracens and mortally wounded. This then left Harold as the heir apparent of the Godwinson family.
