Individual Note

Amund and Olia immigrated to america in 1855 with their two youngest children. They homesteaded in Blue Earth County Minnesota. In 1912, they moved to Milroy Minnesota with their youngest daughter, Mrs. Peter Lebak and her family. Amund had 3 brothers, Halver, Eric, and Swen.

The older children arrived in America first. Anton and Kristian came first, Kristian changing his name to Lunde after the farm he came from. Gena came in 1883 at 11 years of age. Ole came in 1884. Ingaborg came in 1886.

Madelia Times-Messenger, Jan. 7, 1916: Death of Amund Solseth

Mr. Amund Solseth, another of the old settlers of this community, anda man universally admired and respected, has gone to join the silentmajority. He passed away on Jan. 2, at the home of his daughter, Mrs.Peter Lebek, at Milroy, Minn., after an illness of about one week.Death resulted from an attack of pneumonia, following la grippe. Deceased was born in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, Jan. 6, 1826. He grewto manhood in that country and was married there in 1855 to Miss OliaChristensen, and to this union eight children were born, two of whom,Anton Lunde of Madelia, and Ole Solseth of Milroy, have passed away.Those who survive to mourn the loss of a fond and loving father are Mrs.Christ Johnson of Madelia, Mr. Christ Solseth of Milroy, Mr. AmondSolseth of Madelia, Mrs. Mons Olson of Aberdeen, S.D., Mrs. Ove Olsonof Morristown, S.D. and Mrs. P.H. Lebak of Milroy. In 1885 the family emigrated to America and located in Blue EarthCounty, Minn., where they took a homestead and lived until 1912. Sincethat time Mr. and Mrs. Solseth have made their home with their daughterMrs. Lebak at Milroy. Mrs. Solseth passed away about two months ago. The remains were brought to Madelia Monday night, and the funeralwas held at the West Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.The remains were laid to rest beside those of Mrs. Solseth in the WestLutheran cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs.Mons Olson of Aberdeen, S.D.; Mr. P.H. Lebak of Milroy; Mr. Wm. Blake,Mr. Ed Solseth and Miss Annie Solseth of Milroy.
