Dad and Uncle Joe [Zito] were in the same outfit together in the Pacific conflicts. One day, he happened to see a picture that Joe was carrying, and inquired "Who is your girlfriend?" Joe informed him that it was his younger sister, and encouraged him to write to her. Dad and Sandy [Mom] continued to write the four years of the war, and upon release from the army Dad came to Connecticut with Joe instead of returning to West Virginia. They courted for another year, and were married on November 24, 1945.
