Smygehuk is a harbour and fishing village near Trelleborg in Skåne, Sweden. It's most famous for being the southernmost point of Sweden and the Scandinavian Peninsula (55° 20' N).

A statue of a woman stands in the harbour. It's made by artist Axel Ebbe, and named Famntaget (the embrace). The model for the statue is said to be Birgit Holmquist, grandmother to actress Uma Thurman.

Her grandmother was a noted beauty immortalized in a nude statue that stands in the Swedish port town of Trelleborg, looking very much like Uma Thurman.

Her maternal grandmother, Birgit Holmquist, was a great Swedish beauty who, in 1930s Berlin, met and married the monocled Westphalian Baron Karl von Schlebrugge.

After the baron had been briefly jailed by the Nazis for refusing to denounce his Jewish business partners, the couple would take off for Sweden, then Mexico and China.

Such were Birgit's looks that a nude statue of her would be erected in the port town of Trelleborg, and her daughter Nena would also turn out a stunner.

27 maj 1930 avtäcktes Axel Ebbes staty Famntaget i Trelleborgs hamn. Hon placerades vid stranden nedanför sommarrestaurangen Solfjädern. På 1970-talet gjordes hamnområdet om och statyn flyttades till Smygehuk.

Vem som har stått modell för Famntaget finns det inga papper på. Inte ens i tidningsklippen från 1930-talet, när statyn skänktes till Trelleborgs stad, nämns modellen.
