    - Internet - Family Tree - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Peter Rasmussen was married to Margert Sorensen 19 May 1855 by Priest Chapman in Manti, Utah. They passed though what was know as the grasshopper war of 1855-'56. Under the direction of the Apostle Orsen Hyde he assisted in locating Saline, Utah 17 Oct 1863. He was ordained a priest 16 Aug 1857. He took a second wife Anne Helena on 27 Dec 1861. They where married by David H Wells in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Utah. On 12 May 1864 he was ordained a High Priest and was set apart as a Bishop oh the Salina Ward on that same date. The 1st Indian raid of Black Hawk was commenced North of Mayfield and at Salina on 10 Apr 1865. Another Indain raid was made in Salina 13 Apr 1866 compelling them to leave Salina 1 week later. They returned again to Salina in the Spring of 1871. Then Peter was called by Priest Joseph Young, son of President Brigham Young, to settle in Grass Valley. The settlement was called Kosharum and the date was 10 Aug 1874. Peter was set apart asd presding priest soon after and at the organization of the Kosharum Ward was 1st Counceloer to Bishop Joseph H Wright. Peter was called to the San Louis Stake, Colorado (San Louis Valley) by Apostle Francis Lyman at a quartly conferance held at Mt. Pleasant in the fall of 1880. He arrived at Ephriam, Colorado (now a pasture 3 miles West of Sanford) on 16 Sept 1881 and labored there until the summer of 1888, when Ricfield and Ephraim joined forming the Sanford Ward. Soon Peter was set apart as High Councilor which office he held about 4 years after that he was set apart as Ward clerk. Peter Rasmussen died in Sanford, Colorado 1 Jan 1916. He was 81 and one day old and he was buried in the Sanford Cemetery on 3 Jan 1916. - Source - Information given by Elizabeth Ann Phillips, Peter was her Great-Grandfather
