Individual Note

Born in April 1866, Lilian lived with two of her sisters at Elizabeth Cranston’s house in St Giles in 1881. She married in Gateshead in October 1893 to Dr. Albert Ezra NEALE (Surgeon, former student at the Universities of Durham and College London, specialized in Tropical Medicine, author of “Drug abuse, more especially of Morphine & Cocaine”, member of the United Grand Lodge of England Freemason). Lilian and her husband lived in 1895 in Milford Haven, moved the year after to Bristol, then to Twickenham in 1900 and further on to Kensington, London in 1905. In 1910, the couple moved to Lagos, Nigeria where Albert practiced as a surgeon. Travel records show that the couple went there repeatedly during 15 years. In 1930, the couple lived in Naples, Italy from where they travelled twice in 1930 and 1931 to New York to visit their daughter in Toronto. Lilian died in July 1932 in Kensington London. Her husband remained in London (St James Street in 1935 and St Maryleborne in 1939). He died in 1946 in Dorset, his probate mentioning personal effects of £4929. The couple had 4 children : Herbert Cecil Thubron NEALE (b. 1894 Milford Haven, 2nd Lieutenant during World War 1, died in 1916), Albert Leslie NEALE (b. 1896 Milford Haven, Captain in the Royal Air Force during World War 1), Ranald Kingsley NEALE (b. 1897 Bristol, 2nd Lieutenant in the Indian Army in 1916, married to Eilen Muriel G SNELL in Kensington London in 1921, travelled repeatedly to Bombay and Madras until 1948, then became Civil Servant based in Kensington London, died in October 1971 in Folkestone, Kent, probate mentioning £7222 personal effects), Letitia Liliah NEALE (b. 1901 St Margarets Middlesex, married to Royal Navy Commander Cecil Norman Mountcastle SEEGER, the couple had a son Cecil and a daughter Moyra, they settled down in Ottawa, Canada. Both Letitia and Cecil SEEGER are buried there).
