From the Gladwin County Record --- March 2, 1949 FORMER MINISTER PASSES AWAY Perry A. Arnold, 84, of Beaverton, passed away at the hom e of his son, Cal vin, in Clare, on Monday, February 28. Fu neral services will be held at t he Brethren Church of th e Brethren on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 with t he Rev. Ern est Jehnsen officiating. Burial will be in River Lawn cemet er y, Isabellacounty. He will be at the Hall Funeral Hom e until 1 o'clo ck on Thursday. Mr. Perry was born in Preston county, West Virginia, on Nov ember 17, 186 4, the son of John S. and Susan S. Arnold. H e was married there to Miss Ma rian Fike on August 5, 1888 . There were five children, Calvin B. of Clar e, Bessie E . Stiles ofFredericksburg, Va., Albert B. of Coleman, Eff i e E. Sowle of Eaton Rapids and Perley L. of Albion. He became affiliated with the church in 1889, and movedfro m West Virgin ia to Lenawee county, Michigan in 1892. He wa s called too the minist ry by the Fairview congregation i n 1895. The family moved to Isabellacoun ty in 1900 and Mr . Arnold was ordained to the full ministry in 1911. In Ap r il 1914 he became pastor of the Beaverton church of the Bre thren whe re he served for a number of years. Mrs. Arnold passed away on September 24, 1905.He was marrie d to Sarah Schr ider May 22, 1907, who died onAugust 28, 1 947. Following her death Mr. Ar nold moved to Clare to mak e his home with his son.
