Individual Note

Levi Israel emigrated from Germany to New York City in 1854; I found him on a passenger list. I don't know when Adelheit arrived, and I don't know whether they were married in Germany or New York. But his name appears in New York City city directories for several years, and Levi and Adelheit had a daughter, Henrietta, who was born in New York in 1857, and a son, Abraham, who was born in New York in 1860 or 1861. Not long after that they must have moved to Pittsburgh, because Dena was born there in 1864, and another son, Isidor, in Allegheny City (which later became part of Pittsburgh) in 1874. Levi died in Allegheny City in 1900 and Adelheit in Pittsburgh in 1911. Two of Adelheit's sisters, Sophie and Emma, emigrated to New York City about the same time with their husbands, Moritz Stadtfeld and Moritz Spiro, and they all ended up in Pittsburgh.
