Walton County, Georgia, aged 28 years, five feet eight inches high, dark complexion, dark
eyes and by occupation a teacher, was enlisted by Capt. John V. McKee at Loachapoka, Ala.,
on 14 May 1862 to serve three years or during the war and is now entitled to discharge by
reason of disability. The said I.D. Upshaw has not been paid anything by the Gopvernment
since his enlistment except his bounty, and has pay due him from the time of his enlistment to
the present date. There is due to him _____ dollars traveling expenses from Bunkershill, Va.,
the place of discharge, to Loachapoka, Ala., the place of enrollment. There is due to him 4
months and twenty two days pay as Sergeant amounting to $80.46 and commutation for
clothing amounting to $21.87 making in all $102.33. He is indebted to the Confederate States
nothing."

examined the above I.D. Upshaw of Capt. McKee's Co. and that he is incapable of performing
the duties of a soldier because of chronic hepatitis accompanied by dyspepsia. He has alkso an
arm stiffened by dislocation; said soldier has performed very little duty since his enlistment,
having been most of the time the inmate of a hospital."

Anna and Isaac David Upshaw, orphans of Hasten and Rhoda (Oglesby) Upshaw, lived for a time with their paternal uncle, Forrest Tinsley Upshaw in Walton County.
