Mr. Turner Upshaw succumbed early Wednesday, April 6, at his home on Savannah St., following a brief illness.
He was born in Meriwether County September 10, 1870, the son of the late Turner Upshaw and Nannie Allen Upshaw. He lived in Luthersville until 1918 when he moved to Newnan. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Harold Upshaw, Emory L. Upshaw, Merrill Upshaw of Newnan, Ga.; one grandson, Emory Upshaw Jr.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Marvin Cole of Sharpsburg, Ga.; and one great granmddaughter, little Miss Cheryl Cols.
His funeral services wewre conducted at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, with Rev. J.E. Hannah officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery with J.U. McKoon and Sons in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Messrs. L.W. Keith, Lawrence McKoon, I Walter Brooks, Thomas Hyde, Maurice Dunlap and Joe Roberts.

10. 14 Apr 1949: The Newnan Times-Herald, p. 4, sect. 3: Graveside Rites Held for Turner Upshaw.
Turner Upshaw, 78, died early Wednesday, April 6th, at his home on Savannah Street, following a long illness.
A native of Luthersville, he had made his home in Newnan for the past twenty or more years. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, Harold, E.L. and M.A. Upshaw, all of Newnan.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) from the graveside in Oak Hill cemetery, with the Rev. J.E. Hannah, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
J.U. McKoon and Sons are in charge of funeral arrangements.
