On January 8, 1846 when Charles Henry was 25, he married Nancy Jane POTTS, in Nicholas County, Kentucky.

JAMES WHALEY, farmer, P. O. Millersburg; son of Leland and Polly (Talbott) Whaley; she a daughter of Henry and Barbara (Whaley) Talbott who came from Loudoun County, Va., to Fayette County, Ky., in 1792, where they resided two years, then came to Ruddel's Mills Precinct, settling on Hinkston, where they died at advanced ages. Leland was a son of John Whaley, of Loudoun County, Va., where he died about 1787; his wife was Barbara Reamy, who came to Ruddel's Mills in 1795. The father of our subject being the youngest of a large family, was born in 1782, and died in 1873. He remained with his mother until arriving at the age of maturity, when he took charge of the farm, she remaining with him until her death, which occurred in 1827, having passed her ninetieth year. He was twice married; first to Polly Talbott in 1805, having by her five children; Harriett, born in 1806, married to Benedict Whaley, and died in Missouri in 1862; Wm. B., a resident of Paris Precinct. The mother died in 1818. His second marriage was to Catharine, sister of his first wife; by her he had six children: Charles H., born in 1820, residing in Ruddel's Mills Precinct; Mary, born in 1823, and Sarah, in 1825, both of whom died maidens; B. F., born in 1828, residing in Cynthiana; L. W., in 1830, also in Cynthiana; Elizabeth, born in 1833, married to Winfield Hayden, now residing in Marion County, Mo. James, the subject of this sketch, received a limited common school education, and has devoted his life to agriculture and stock raising, with the exception of about five years, dating from 1835, when he was one of the prominent merchants of Millersburg. He was four times married: first to Tabitha Jameson, in 1837, she dying in 1840; second in 1842 to Mary Ann Hedges, daughter of John Hedges; by her he had three children: Tabitha, deceased, wife of John Jameson; Martha (deceased); Fannie, wife of John H. Shropshire, farmer, near Georgetown, Scott County, Ky.; his second wife died in 1849; third marriage to Betsey Bowles, in 1850; died in 1875; fourth marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Redmon, in 1878. He is a member of the Christian church and a respected citizen.

In 1805 Leland first married Mary "Polly" TALBOTT (36) , daughter of Henry TALBOTT (1745-1819) & Barbara WHALEY (9) (ca1756-). Born on May 7, 1787 in Loudon County, Virginia. Mary "Polly" died in 1818; she was 30.

They had the following children:

On January 22, 1819 Leland second married J. Catherine TALBOTT (40) [5], daughter of Henry TALBOTT (1745-1819) & Barbara WHALEY (9) (ca1756-), in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Born on October 17, 1797 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. J. Catherine died in 1860; she was 62.

They had the following children:

ii. Mary Jane. Born on March 24, 1823 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Mary Jane died on January 22, 1873; she was 49. Buried in Millersburg, Kentucky.
iii. Sarah. Born on October 24, 1825 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Sarah died on January 22, 1873; she was 47. Buried in Millersburg, Kentucky.

v. Leland W. Born on September 17, 1831 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Leland W. died on July 20, 1925; he was 93. Buried in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
On February 25, 1861 when Leland W. was 29, he first married Vanilla VICTOR, daughter of James I. VICTOR (1806-1868) & Margaret B. RUTTER (1818-), in Harrison County, Kentucky.
On May 4, 1892 when Leland W. was 60, he second married Margaret Ann WAITS, in Harrison County, Kentucky. Born in August 1847.
vi. George W. Born in 1833 in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
vii. Elizabeth. Born on March 7, 1834 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Elizabeth died in Palmyra, Missouri on March 6, 1918; she was 83.
On November 19, 1865 when Elizabeth was 31, she married Winfield S. HAYDEN. Winfield S. died on April 8, 1915.

    My gg grandfather's brother, George Wm. Myers had four daus. The oldest,
    Mary, born 27 Feb 1856 in Bath Co., married a Whaley. She died 6 Jun
    1924 and is buried in the cemetery in Carlisle. In the 1910 MiraCode Census
    Index she is listed as head of household with a dau Nancy, 17. Lives in
    Millersburg, Bourbon Co. C. S. Whaley was the informant on her death cert.
    Who was he? Some kind person sent me a download on this, but my
    computer wouldn't take it. Who is Mary buried next too? Who did her dau
    marry, if anyone? What happened to her. I'm at my wit's end on this Mary.
    To make matters worse, her mother was Nancy Whaley dau of Johnson
    Whaley and Helen Honaker. Did she marry a cousin? Please, Please if
    anyone has an inkling of this Mary please help me. I can't even find a
    for her to a Whaley. Must of married in Timbuctoo. Grin!

    Mr. Charles L. Whaley died Saturday at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Eugene Gregg, in the country, at the age of 85 years. Mr. Whaley was a well known a citizen and formerly owned the fine farm which was purchased by Mr. Gregg Mr. Whaley was a member of the Christian church, having joined early in life, and was a good citizen. He is survived by three sons, Messers Todd, Gano and Taylor Whaley, and four daughters, Mesdames De. Cox, Eugene Gregg, Edgar Gregg, and Mrs John Shockey, the latter of Flemingsburg. The funeral services, were conducted by Rev. H. G, Walker and the remains were interred at Millersburg.
