20 July 1790 : | 20 July 1790 :Marriage (with Anne L'OFFICIAL) - Newfoundland, Canada Sources: - Amerindian Ancestry out of Mi'kma'ki - MyFamily.com Note Posting by Jean Doris LeBlanc in May 2009. - Translation of the Official record:On July 20, 1790, François Benoit, son of minor age of the deceased Augustin Benoit and Françoise Terriot, inhabitants of the Magdalen Islands and living in Bay St. George, Nfld [Newfoundland] for the last 6 months, and Anne L'Official, daughter of minor age of Henry L'Official and Isabelle Chego, were married with permission before four witnesses: Joseph Payson, John Denis, Louis Monroe and John Ford, and promise to present themselves in the church to receive the nuptial blessing as soon as they can do so. From this marriage there is a daughter, who was born May 7 of the present year and has been baptized here on July 30 of this year. Today, April 4, 1791, a dispensation from the reading of the three banns has been granted by me by virtue of the apostolic powers bestowed on me, Jean Longueville, priest, apostolic prefect of the Islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, pastor of St. Pierre, after having received their mutual consent to the marriage and I have given them the nuptial blessing following the rites of our Mother, the Holy, Roman Catholic Church. Present at this ceremony were Henry L'Official - father of the bride; Georges L'Official - her brother; Jean Olin [Blin, maybe?], uncle-in-law of the groom; Madeleine Terriot his wife, maternal aunt; and Augustin Thomas, who have signed with us.
