On Monday afternoon Mrs. Rose Ann Davies, who resided with her husband at 26 Chisholm street, died suddenly. She took ill on Wednesday last, but being in poor circumstances Mr. Davies could not afford a doctor. The poor woman decided to go to the Hospital, and was on her way thither, when she took a fit and was taken home. Dr. Kennedy was sent for, and arrived at two o’clock in the afternoon. The doctor gave her some medicine, and advised her removal to the Hospital, as, in his opinion, she was suffering from inflammation of the left lung. Arrangements were being made to take her to the institution, but she died before they could be completed. Dr. Kennedy declined to give a certificate of death, and an enquiry was thought necessary. The matter was yesterday referred to Cr. Peady, J.P., who thought there was no occasion for an enquiry, and gave an order for burial.
