One source has his birthp lace in Rutlandshire. Hernhill is in K ent, not
London, near Lavenham, origin of many Massachusetts immigrants, inclu ding
Winthrop. Isaac Johnson was a s ettler of Roxbury. He arrived in
Massac husetts with his father, probably in Winthrop's fleet of 1630. He
was
made a freeman at reaching his majority in 1635. He was made Captain of
the
Antient and Honorable Artillery Company i n 1667. He was a deputy to the
General Court in 1667. He died at the Narraga nset fort fight in 1675, at
the
head of a "ba nd of praying Indians."
