"Joel Chesebrough, one of the wealthiest of the early settlers, in 1844. He was born in Albany County, N. Y., January 1, 1810, and resided in that State several years, but has remained in this township (Ridge) since his first settlement here. He now owns 360 acres of valuable land, all earned by hard labor. "
