was born 13 of May 1852 in India to Gilbert and Helen (nee McFarlane) McMicking. She died 11 of June 1919 in Edinburgh. Her siblings include Thomas George Torrance McMicking (b.1853), the grandfather of Joseph R. McMicking of Manila, Philippines and Major
Gilbert McMicking, MP (Glasgow) (b.1862). She was the niece of Robert MacMicking of Manus, Australia and Mary McMicking whose ancestors include the
famed media professor Herbert Marshall McLulan.

She married three times. Her first husband was Richard Denman ((3 Jan 1842 - 5 Apr 1883), the son of Hon Richard Denman and Emma Jones, whom she
married on 31 May 1871 at the age of 19. This marriage ended in divorce seven years later in 1878 but not before three children were born:

(1) Hon Anna Maria Heywood Denman (1874-1965);
(2) Thomas Denman, 3rd Baron Denman of Dovedale (1875-1954);
(3) Sir Richard Douglas Denman, 1st Baronet Denman, of Dovedale (1876-1957)

Her second husband was James Montgomery Walker from 1879 to 1888 which ended in annulment on grounds of desertion. It is rumoured that James Walker immigrated to Nova Scotia where he worked in the coal mines. Helen and James produced a daughter: Gladys Walker

Her third husband was the Right Honourable Sir Henry Primrose (1846-1923) whom she married on November 2,1888. Primrose was born at Barnbougle, near Edinburgh, the second of the six sons of the Hon. Bouverie Francis Primrose (1813–1898) and his wife, Frederica Sophia Anson (1814–1867). His father was the son of Archibald Primrose, 4th Earl of Rosebery and Harriett Bouverie. His mother was the daughter of Thomas Anson, 1st Viscount Anson and Lady Anne Margaret Coke. He was educated at Trinity College, Glenalmond, and Balliol College, Oxford. He obtained second class degrees in classical moderations (1867) and in the final honour school of law and modern history (1869)He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.). He was decorated with the award of Imperial Service Order (I.S.O.).2 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) Lady Helen and Henry Primrose had one son:
