Naming of McMicking Park in Brampton, Ontario, Canada - Proposed: January 26, 2010 - Adopted: March 24, 2010 
It is recommended that this 10-acre site, including the 430m long valley portion, be named "McMicking Park", primarily for Thomas' active contributions to the community Thomas McMicking and his parents moved from Scotland to New York and then to Niagara. They were forced to leave their home during the War of 1812, but found refuge with the Chisholms and the McGlashans in Beaverdams. Thomas and his siblings took United Empire Loyalists Grants in Chinguacousy, purchasing the east half of Lot 11 in 1829. Prior to his death in 1857, Thomas McMicking served the Township as Pathmaster (1827 & 1829), Warden (1830), Assessor (1831 & 1855), and Poundkeeper (1832). The McMicking family remained on the farm until 1870.
