Information of Anna Mette Nielsen-1741 and Niels Nielsen Back or Bach 1733

This is information from Ann Greenwood Keetch and Rasmus Peter Nelson when they were living.

This information also comes from family research done latter.

In their records, Lisbet Andersen was given as the wife of Niels Nielsen Back (1733) and temple work had been done for her in 1934.

In 1952 Sister Ellen Christensen did research for the family and found the wife's name to be Anna Mette Nielsen. We questioned this information but she assured us that it was correct. In 1957 her son, Erik Christensen was the family researcher and we asked him to recheck the wife's name. He found it to be Anna Mette.

In 1967 when it was resubmitted Anna Mette's faher's sheet (because for some reason the work had not been done) it was returned indicating that Anne Mette's work had not been done. A letter was written to Bro Erik Christensen and ask him to check again to be surewe had the right wife. He did the checking 6th of Oct 1967.

First he checked the 1787 Census of Astrup, Fovling to see if children were with the mother and her second husband. Anna Mette was listed with her second husband but no children were listed with them nor in that parish.

He next checked the christening record for each of the children:

When #1 Karen Nielsen was chr. Leene a sister of Anne Mette was a witness

When #3 Lisbeth was chr. Else a sister of Anne Mette was a witness.

When #6 Else was chr. Leene, a sister of Anne Mette, was a witness. Her name was given as Else Nielsen.

Bro Christensen checked the marriage record of Anna Mette to her second husband but only the name Anna Mette was given. He checked the record of her first marriage but no more proof was there. However, we could find no record of a Lisbet Andersen marrying a Niels Nielsen in these parishes. He checked the burial records of Niels Nielsen Back but no other clue was given.

There are no probate records for this period of time.

Looking at Niels Nielsen Back (1774-1845) sheet we do have some suggestion of the mother's

identity: Their first child's name was Ane Mette. Not one of the 13 children were named Lisbet. The second child was named Ane Cathrine perhaps after the maternal grandmother.

Husband called Niels Bach when each of the children were born.

#6 Else was the 2nd wife of Wilhelm Christensen who was born 1761, died 1 May 1827, son of Christen Hansen and Ane Catrine Wilhelmsen. Wilhelm Christensen married 14 Dec 1793 Ane Kathrine Jensen. He was bapt 9 Nov 1886, endow 10 Nov 1886 Logan Temple.
