Jacob Wagner, his brother John and his cousin Peter left Wasselone,
France in June 1771. They sailed on the ship TYGER from Rotterdam and
landed in Philadelphia on November 19, 1771. The English Clerk changed
the spelling of their name to WAGGONER, apparently the English spelling,
and it has been spelled thus ever since.

Jacob married Martha Dutwiler in Elizabethtown (now Hagerstown), Maryland
on March 29, 1773.

Jacob served as a private and corporal in Captain Joseph Howell’s Company
in the 2nd Pennsylvania Regiment of the Continental Forces commanded by
Major William Williams from 1777 until the end of the Revolutionary War.
