1896 : | 1896 :Emigration - Denmark to the United States Dusenius sailed from Copenhagen on the ship Thingvalla (the same ship on which his sister Ane Marie had sailed in 1893), arriving at Ellis Island on 20 April 1896, en route to Chicago. He eventually reached Wahpeton, North Dakota. As a young man, he worked as a blacksmith, probably for his older brother Chris Paulson who had arrived in Wahpeton from Denmark in about 1880. Dusenius received his second naturalization papers and became a United State citizen in Wahpeton on 3 November 1904. His affidavit stated that he had enlisted in the United States Army on April 5, 1900, and was still in the army on 3 November 1904. Dusenius served in the United States Cavalry.
