Vera M. (Shattuck) Rhyner, 93, of Liverpool passed away on Thursday at Sunnyside Care Center. She was born in Dickinson Center, NY a daughter of the late Ida (Green) and George Shattuck. At the age of 15 she moved to Brattleboro, VT where she graduated high school. In 1945 along with family, Vera came to Syracuse and had been a resident of Liverpool for the past 56 years. She was employed at several area restaurants as a waitress. Her main focus in life was taking care of her family. Vera was a Foster mother with Onondaga County. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time in her garden. Vera was a member of Liverpool First United Methodist Church in Liverpool. She is predeceased by her two husbands, Robert W. Smith and Robert Rhyner, five brothers and three sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela S. (Armand F.) Phillips, Jr. of Liverpool, sister, Vivian Jorgensen of Garden City, NY, niece, Donna M, (William) Tarr of Orchard Park, NY, and several great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in White Chapel Memory Gardens in DeWitt. The family would like to thank Sunnyside Care Center for the love and compassion shown towards Vera.
