According to my father, his father left his mother after running into a display window and having to get out of the country. He supposedly left Puerto Rico without his wife, who apparently refused to go with him. My father said that he went to Cuba and later on to Mexico where he supposedly was the first airplane pilot of that country. The 1920 census has his wife listed as a "widow" but there was no record of his dying in Caguas anytime between 1914 and 1921. On 4/6/94, I spoke with Teresita Mora (daughter of Lorenzo Enrique Mora) who corroborated that he did go to Mexico and had a family there. In May 1994, I visited my aunts in Mexico City and met their families. They gave me pictures of my grandfather and of my great grandfather. They told me about him. He was a Captain in the Mexican Revolutionary Army and had been decorated. He married his second wife in 1922. This is the same year that my father recalled his grandmother Angela asking him to go and live with them but he felt that he had to stay and care for his mother. In July 1994, I went to Puerto Rico and met my father's cousins and some of their children. I learned that my grandfather had gone to New York and Puerto Rico in 1969 at the expense and request of his three nephews (sons of Fernando who had just passed away). His two brothers had paid for his ticket and Rafael Bosch (attorney in New York) arranged for him to visit both New York and Puerto Rico. Juan Enrique Mora and Peter Alexander Mora told me about this 80 year old large framed man who wore a big sombrero was meticulous about his morning hygiene and ate hot peppers and eggs for breakfast. Juan Enrique told me that they had expected to see a little old man with a cane. they never saw him at the airport. He took a cab and went straight to Coamo and then to Ponce. He was a big man. Rafael Angel Mora remembered his big hat. Juan Enrique found him to be a very agreeable and friendly gentleman, they spoke for hours. Ironically, my father lived in Puerto Rico at the time. They never met. His death certificate incorrectly noted that he was born in Cardona, Veracruz, Mexico. Ralph Baudilio Mora-DeJesus
