Witnesses at his marriage (20 April 1912): Francisco Hernandez & Encarnacion Fernandez;
per Andrea De Jesus Colon ( on December 15, 1993), he had 3 cousins already old when she was a youth. She claims that he was the youngest of about 13 siblings. She recalled one 2nd cousin of his, named Candida Diaz (by her husband's last name). There was also Ramon Garcia (tio politico; i.e., uncle by marriage--- [this would make his brother Daniel de Jesus-Solis]) and a Paula Rodriguez (this could refer to Laura Rodriguez who was the wife of Daniel de Jesus-Solis and mother of Ricardo de Jesus-Rodriguez). There were nephews: "Chara" (this could refer to Carmen de Jesus-Rodriguez, Ricardo's sister) who bought a house in Las Palmeras & Ricardo [de Jesus-Rodriguez] who lived in Rio Piedras.
per my uncle, Luis Angel de Jesus-Rodriguez (on December 18, 1993), he came to Puerto Rico from Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands with his parents and 6 or so siblings as a young child. His parents eventually had 24 children in all. They all settled in different places. He does recall going to Arroyo and Patillas to visit his father's nephews and recalls that his father had a brother named, Alberto. His father told him that he came to Gurabo on horseback from Cayey.
records indicate that he lived with a mulatta for about 15 years prior to marrying my grandmother, Gertrudis. [according to my aunt, Andrea DeJesus- Rodriguez, she was known as "LA CONGA" and apparently did some "brujeria" (Witchcraft) on him after he left her. He developed a condition that did not allow him to walk again. On 20 July 1998, I discovered his baptismal certificate proving that he was born in Gurabo and had not come from the Canary Islands. At this point (August 11, 1998), I have records of six other siblings: Jaume, Jose Diego, Gertrudis, Maria, Hermengile & Jose spanning from 1860 to 1874.
Per my aunt, Andrea de Jesus Rodriguez (on 2 November 1998), he owned half of the bakery, a ranch and seven houses in Gurabo. He sold these after contracting an illness and being treated at the Auxilio Mutuo in Rio Piedras (he left for two weeks and stayed for two years). He kept only the family home that had five bedrooms. Now, she claims that his sister-in-law, Gonzala had done the witchcraft and that she had confronted her at one point about this as she claims that they had done it out of jealousy for all he had.
