John Boys (1621-1661), of Hoad Court, Blean, was a lawyer (Inner Temple, 1640) and royalist supporter. His father was also called John Boys; his mother, Mary, was the daughter of Martin Fotherby, bishop of Salisbury, who was previously a Canon of Canterbury Cathedral (1596, Stall XI). His wife, Ann (d. 1712), was the daughter of Dr William Kingsley, archdeacon of Canterbury. He published translations from Vergil's Aeneid and political pieces.
