The Goos, Haas, Locher, Dickbernd side were German / Swiss and involved with the German Evangelical Church. Starting in Westerkappeln, Germany and Baden, Germany, members of these families served as missionaries on the Gold Coast of Africa, in Christianborg, Ghana. They came to USA about 1856 through New Orleans, up the river to St Louis. In 1906, they moved to Otis Orchards, Spokane County, Washington and started a mission church there.
The Taylor, Robbs, Johnson, and Sly families are more British Isles. Some came over to USA in colonial times. Some went to Ontario, Canada after the Revolutionary War. Then to Dunn County, Wisconsin and finally to the Spokane, Washington area. Some came over about 1900, living in Chase County, Kansas for awhile and then moving to Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. My grandfather left Canada and moved to the Spokane, Washington area.
