Individual Note

Ms. van der Laan has notes about Oene. In 1774, Oene becomes owner of the (old) Hoog Hiem, a farm. In 1749 he is listed under Boorngergum as a "gemeen boer" or my intrepretation of that, a common or ordinary farmer. In 1750, the couple become members of the Doopsgezinde or Baptist? congregation in Grouw. Later, in 1783, they transferred to congregation called "het Nieuwe Huis" in Oldeboorn according to the membership book of the Vlaamse Doopgezinde Gemeente of Grouw.. On Sept. 3, 1771, it is announced that he intends to buy "c.s kopen wil een derde deel van een stem te Boornbergum, nr. 32, door de kipers als meyer gebruikt." Not sure what that means.
Sept. 6, 1774, he is now living near Boornbergum, "als naastligger een deftig stemdragende stem en landen onder Boornbergum te Goongahuizen op It Heechhiem, r. 31." After the death of his father, Douwes, Oene continues to live on the farm called "it Heechhiem".
In 1790, he moved to Oldeboorn, where he bought a house, no. 35.
In 1794, the house of Oene and Anskje is sold by Auke Gerks, a teacher of their church, and the money is distributed among the children, Douwe, Kerst, Durk, Willem, Attie.
