Norfolk - Age 86, the widow of former Norfolk County Circuit Court Judge A.B. CARNEY, died Wednesday, May 8, 1968 in a hospital after a short illness. A native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, she lived in the Tidewater area 65 years. Her husband was Circuit Court Judge from 1940 to 1945. She had lived in Norfolk County, the Waterview section of Portsmouth and Norfolk. She was a daughter of CHARLES C. and Mrs. ADA S. ALLEN. She was a former member of Colonial Dames. Surviving are a son, JAMES ALLEN CARNEY of Norfolk; a grandson, JAMES A. CARNEY Junior of Arlington; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. MALCOLM G. SCULLY of Cockeysville, Maryland and Miss FRANCES F. CARNEY of Hollins and 2 great grandchildren. The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family, which will be at 1344 Mallory Court, Norfolk, has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to a charity.
