Milton Jean Carter Carpenter, 85, of Bowling Green died Jan. 3, 2004, at The Medical Center.
The Hannibal, Mo., native was employed in several secretarial positions, which included Taggart Corporation, 1937-1942; U.S. Armed Services, 1943-45; music department at Western Kentucky University, 1953-58; David Helm Books and Records, 1956-58; attorneys Logan and Caudill, 1958-60; WKU Public Relations, 1961-63; Drs. Coverdale and Blackerby, 1973-76; Dr. Kafoglis, Hatcher and Dobson, 1977-78; and BG World of Work, 1978-79. She was a member of the Community Chorus of Carthage, N.Y., Presbyterian Church Choir of Rochester, N.Y., Broadway United Methodist Church Choir, Bowling Green Community Chorus and Community Concerts of Bowling Green. She also served as piano accompanist for several organizations and was a Presbyterian. She was a daughter of the late Milton Graves Carter and Elsie Baldwin Carter.
A service of remembrance will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Johnson- Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Howard Ralph Carpenter, whom she married July 11, 1942; a son, John Howard Carpenter of Los Angeles; a brother, Fred Carter of Carthage, N.Y.; and a grandson, John Cody Carpenter of Los Angeles.
