A tragic death occured at the Omaha depot Tuesday night, George Osterman, of Kilbourne City, accompanied by his son-in-law, C.S. Lawrence , reached this city at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Osterman expressed a feeling of weakness and passed into the ladies waiting room. He sank into a seat, looked about him for a moment, and became unconscious. The city physician, Dr. R.R. Chase was quickly summoned but the man was past medical aid. Death had resulted from exhaustion and old age, the fatiguing journey hastening the end.
The death is a particularity sad one. Mr. Osterman was coming to pay a vist to his daughter, Mrs. Frank Howard of Chippewa street, and son, J.A. Osterman, of Water street. He was 80 years of age.
Deputy sheriff La Page and Justice Phillips were called to the depot, but deemed it not necessary to hold an inquest as so many were present at the time of death.The deceased removed from this city only a few years ago when his wife died. He resided on North Farwell street and leaves considerable property here.
