Betty O'Neal Fluke, 75, of Saxton, died on Friday, September 3, 2010, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born on March 21, 1935, in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Gustie and Lois (Young) O'Neal. She was united in marriage to Richard B. Fluke on September 5, 1953, in Cumberland, Maryland.
Along with her husband, she is survived by the following family:

Victor H. Fluke married to Terry (Eller), New Ringgold, PA
Four Grandchildren:

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law:
Miriam and husband Thomas Brantley.
Mrs. Fluke was a former member of St. Paul's Reformed Church, Yellow Creek, where she taught Sunday School. Most recently, she attended Tatesville United Methodist Church, Tatesville.
She was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School, Class of 1953.
Over the years, Mrs. Fluke was employed by United Telephone Company in Hopewell and Bedford; Lyon Manufacturing Company, Everett; Scampers and Quality Manufacturing, Saxton; Quality Manufacturing, Martinsburg where she managed their sewing operations; and lastly was owner/operator of Betty's Sew & So, Saxton, until her retirement.
Mrs. Fluke was a cancer survivor for thirty-nine years, inspiring dozens of others who faced the disease.
Mrs. Fluke was a member and Past Matron of Saxton Chapter No. 161 Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of the Pennsylvania Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary, which recognized her as its 2002 Member of the Year. She was Assistant Recording Secretary for the Saxton Liberty High School Alumni Association and a Tussey Mountain Relay for Life Team Member.
She enjoyed spending time with her family; sewing; watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune; and traveling with her husband to the 440th Signal Battalion Reunions throughout the United States.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend an Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating. Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Internment will be held privately.
