Mabel Clara Ashbaugh of Seneca, Missouri, formerly of Irondale, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, June 3, 1985 in the Sale Hospital, Neosho, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, six months and nineteen days. She was born November 14, 1896 in Brooklyn, Indiana, daughter of the late Robert and Minnie Root Allen.
Mrs. Ashbaugh had accepted Christ as her Savior and had been a member of the Frankclay Nazarene Church for forty-three years. On October 12, 1913 she was united in marriage to Clarence Blain Ashbaugh and eight children were born to this union. Mr. Ashbaugh preceded his wife in death on May 26, 1977.
Mrs. Ashbaugh leaves to survive five daughters, Dorothy McCarron of Irondale, Doretta (Mrs. Loren Wolfe) of Seneca, Frances Budd of St. Louis, Maxine (Mrs. Gerald Barron) and Lois (Mrs. Ronald Barron) both of Moberly; three sons, Millard Ashbaugh of St. Clair, Homer Ashbaugh of Hartville and Elgin Ashbaugh of Irondale; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Elders of St. Louis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ashbaugh was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dorothy Sue McCarron.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 5, 1985 at 2:00 P.M. at Gum & Son Chapel, Irondale, with Rev. Everett Dix officiating. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Gum & Son Funeral Home, Irondale, Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were Charles Brewer, Frank Forshee, Jerome Inman, Theodore Ashbaugh, Bill Kirby and Kenneth Mason.
